Hospice Volunteers
What is hospice?
Hospice focuses on patients in the last phases of life-limiting illness and provides support and care for them and their families. It:
- Recognizes completing life is an important part of living
- Affirms life and neither hastens nor postpones death
- Focuses on quality of life for individuals and their families
What does a hospice volunteer do?
Hospice volunteers perform a variety of important tasks, including administrative duties, spending time with patients and providing rest for family members.
What are the requirements for hospice volunteers?
No medical background is required – only a willing heart. The role requires compassionate, caring individuals who would like to bring, love and care into the lives of the terminally ill and their families.
Before volunteering, a background check will be completed. Also, volunteers must also have proof of flu shots.
The hospice program welcomes volunteers of all ages.
How do I apply?
