Ballad Health Specialty Pharmacy earns high-level accreditations

Ballad Health Specialty Pharmacy has earned accreditations from the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) and the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC).

Ballad Health Specialty Pharmacy earned these accreditations after a comprehensive process that considered organizational structure, policies and procedures, as well as compliance with state and federal regulations.

“Our specialty pharmacy plays a vital role in the comprehensive care Ballad Health offers our patients,” said Trish Tanner, chief pharmacy officer at Ballad Health. “We are thrilled ACHC and URAC recognize and endorse our dedication to delivering quality services to those we serve.”

The ACHC accreditation came with oncology distinction, meaning Ballad Health Specialty Pharmacy has been recognized for providing cancer patients with exceptional and high-quality care, including ensuring they receive oral cancer medications and related therapies in a secure, dependable, accessible and affordable manner.

“These accreditations reflect our team’s hard work, commitment to excellence, and unwavering focus on delivering top-quality healthcare solutions,” said Angel Crabtree, director of Ballad Health’s specialty pharmacy services. “By adhering to national regulations and industry best practices, our pharmacies not only ensure compliance but also enhance the quality and safety of pharmaceutical services provided to patients.”

Ballad Health Specialty Pharmacy, with locations in Bristol, Johnson City and Kingsport, offers personalized care and regular follow ups from specialty pharmacists. They provide:

  • Coordination with insurance and financial assistance programs
  • Direct access to trained pharmacists and specialty care teams
  • Free delivery of medications directly to patients or their physicians' offices
  • Integrated care and communication with patients' physicians and care teams
  • Patient support throughout enrollment in a medication management program, enhancing medication instructions, side effect monitoring and overall health improvement
  • Refill reminder calls

ACHC accreditation is independent third-party validation, through a comprehensive survey process, that a healthcare organization’s policies, processes and care delivery meet recognized standards for quality and safety.

URAC is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization that provides accreditation of organizations involved in medical care services, as well as education and measurement programs.
