Family Medicine residency programs

Our 3-year family medicine residency programs give medical residents the opportunity to work one-on-one with attending physicians in a rural and city settings across Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee. This rural family medicine program will give you experience serving a diverse group of patients with wide-ranging healthcare needs.

Internal Medicine residency programs

Internal medicine residents will work hands-on with patients as their primary care provider and gain a wealth of experience they can apply to any community, big or small, across the country. As part of this internal medicine program, our attending physicians will work with you every step of the way to help you find the internal medicine specialty that’s right for you.

PGY1 Pharmacy residency programs

Ready to take the next step in your pharmacy career? We offer PGY1 hospital pharmacy residency programs at Johnson City Medical Center, Bristol Regional Medical Center and Holston Valley Medical Center.

All of our pharmacy residents will be skilled in diverse patient care, practice management, leadership and education once they complete one of our pharmacy programs.

PGY2 Pharmacy residency program

Our PGY2 critical care pharmacy residency program at Johnson City Medical Center focuses on patient-centered care, leadership and pharmacy services.

Residents who successfully complete our PGY2 hospital residency program are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions and board certification in the Critical Care advanced practice area.

AEGD Dental residency program

Ballad’s AEGD GPR dental residency program is a one-year program with a two-year option located in Washington County Virginia, sponsored by Johnston Memorial Hospital.

The paid dental residency program provides general dentists advanced clinical and didactic training in a multidisciplinary environment that enhances and refines skills and knowledge obtained in dental school while providing practical experiences serving underserved communities. Residency salary & educational stipend

Residents are employees of Ballad Health, and in addition to benefits, we also offer financial compensation that increases as you progress through your respective program:

  • Yearly salary – All of our programs offer a salary that increases with each year of training.
  • Educational stipend – In addition to the yearly salary, some of our programs provide residents with an educational stipend and financial assistance to help cover the cost of educational materials and resources.
